Dental Care for Pets at Rockwall County Veterinary Clinic Stops Diseases at the Mouth

At Rockwall County Veterinary Clinic, we believe dental health is an important part of keeping our pet patients healthy. The health of the mouth is critical to the overall health of the pet. Diseases of the mouth cause an increase in bacteria that can eventually lead to systemic illness, organ dysfunction, and a shortened lifespan. Dental Care for Pets at Rockwall County Veterinary ClinicWe work hard to keep our clients educated about the importance of good dental care.

Dental cleanings are scheduled as a day-long procedure. Unlike some businesses that advertise awake dental care, which is only cosmetic in nature, we believe truly thorough and effective dental care and cleaning can only occur when a pet is under general anesthesia. It is exceedingly important to clean not only the visible surface of the teeth, but also the spaces between the teeth and under the gums. Cleaning beneath the gum line is, in fact, the most important part of any dental prophylaxis due to the fact that this is where most bacteria and harmful diseases originate.

We also perform periodontal work, such as extractions, but only when absolutely necessary for your petís health.

Dental cleaning services are offered Monday through Friday. Our dental patients are asked to arrive in the morning and will typically be released later that same day with a much happier and healthier mouth!
